Good afternoon Sisters and Brothers,

I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and safe. Our hearts goes out to all those that succumb to this deadly virus and the impacted families. As the museum prepares for their opening date we the executive board would like to clarify a few things:

  1. All local 1503 members will be paid to August 29, 2020.
  2. The museum will offer union members a voluntary retirement package for those that qualify.
  3. Everyone will be retrained in proper health and safety measures in preparation for the opening date.
  4. We’re still in constant communication with the Met working on the latest agreement along with DC37.

As we all would agree these are unique and difficult times. Even though the Met is showing their willingness to keep everyone paid we are not out of the woods yet. New York city is taking a big hit financially and the unions in NYC (including the locals in the cultural institutions) are starting to feel the pinch. At some point we as a local will have to make some difficult decisions going forward. But rest assured your local leadership and DC37 will continue to fight for ALL 1503 members to make sure our contract is upheld. As things develop we will keep you posted with updated information so as to avoid confusion.

Stay tuned and stay healthy,

Rawle Campbell
President, Local 1503
