Information on the Security Department General Shift Bid
Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Security Department,
Welcome back and congratulations on making the reopening work.
As you know, prior to opening, members were assigned temporary schedules and shift assignments by security management. Remember: these assignments are temporary.
As a result of furloughing of our sisters and brothers and the need to reintegrate the guards from the Breuer a General Shift Bid has been created the to more fairly allocate members across all three shifts at both the main building and the Cloisters.
Our next challenge to face is the Security Dept. General Shift Bid.
FOR THOSE NOT FAMILIAR WITH HOW A SHIFT BID WILL WORK, HERE’S A RUN DOWN.
Starting September 1st, Logistics will start the “Bid”.
It will essentially be the same process as the scheduling for annual leave availability. By seniority, members will be called to Logistics (Dispatch) and be shown a selection of location (Main Building or Cloisters), shifts and schedules from which to choose.
You will make a selection for your preferred shift and schedule, and the process will move along to the next senior member. Obviously, the lower a member is in seniority, the fewer “first” choices will be available.
Something important to consider: working Early and Late Watch comes with a 10% pay differential. So your hourly rate goes up by 10% if you work those shifts.
More challenges will confront us but if we stay 1503 Strong—we will get through them together.
