Question 1: When will I be paid?

Answer: If you electronically sign, return and do not revoke the Agreement, your severance payment will be paid no later than 60 days after your Separation Date. If you are enrolled in direct deposit, you will receive a direct deposit. If you receive checks, it will be mailed to you at the address in Workday.
Please ensure your pay preferences are up to date in Workday.

Question 2: Will I be paid out my annual leave and holiday comp time?

Answer: Yes, you will receive payment for accrued and unused annual leave and holiday comp, which is anticipated to be March 12, 2021. If you worked in Feb., this will be included in your final pay. Sick time is not paid out.

Question 3: How can I view/download/print my pay slips?

Answer: Your access to Workday will end on February 28.

Question 4: What will happen to my health coverage?

Answer: If you were enrolled in the City health plan through the Museum, your coverage will end on February 28, 2021.(Please see the benefits guide attached to your notice email for more information). You will receive a separate packet in the mail from EBPA, our COBRA vendor. Please open this as soon as you receive. If act timely and elect COBRA coverage continuation. It will begin retroactive to the day after your coverage ended.

Question 5: How to I file for Unemployment?

Answer: File through the NY state website. The FEIN number for the Museum is 13-1624086.  https://labor.ny.gov/unemploymentassistance.shtm

Question 6: Am I eligible for Unemployment?

Answer: The state determines your eligibility. We inform the state of the reason for separation, and the state will respond to your claim. You must claim Unemployment via the website.

Question 7: If I am eligible, how much will I receive in Unemployment?

Answer: NY’s website has a benefits estimator: https://labor.ny.gov/benefit-rate-calculator/.

Question 8: What happens if there are future openings in my former position? Can I be recalled?

Answer: Yes, under the current CBA, employees can be recalled following      layoff in order of seniority, when a need is presented by a department.

  • If you are recalled to work or take another full time position at the Museum prior to February 28, 2021, you will not be eligible for the separation payment.
  • However if you are recalled after February 28, 2021 and have timely signed and not revoked the Separation Agreement, you will still receive/keep the separation payment.
