Because of a 2024 contract update, it is no longer a holiday.
If you work that day, it’s a Premium Day, so you get double pay for every hour worked , but there is no holiday on the books.

Medical Benefits Update
Medical plan rates will change effective January 1, 2026, which may affect your bi-weekly contribution. Any changes to your contribution will be reflected in your January 23, 2026 paycheck.
If you decide to update or change your health insurance coverage, those changes will take effect on the first day of the month following your submission.

2026 DC 37 Lobby Day
Save the date for our 2026 Lobby Day! On Wednesday, March 4, we will travel to Albany to speak with State legislators about Tier 6 Reform, Taxing the rich, workplace safety, and other legislative priorities.
