April 19, 2024

Dear Sister and Brothers,

We have an agreement with the museum! Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the membership for their patience and fighting spirit. Thank you for keeping this vital issue on our minds and finding a real solution.

It will be summarized by the bullet points below because we are still waiting for a couple signatures. This in no way should stop the process of scheduling immediately and HR agreed. A notice is being sent to manpower and logistics to start scheduling immediately either this afternoon or first thing in the morning.

  1. Every union member listed that had annual leave time taken from them in vacation year 2020-2021 will have that stolen time paid out in one lump sum at their current rate of salary.
  2. Every member listed in the grievance who were not given the opportunity to schedule A.L. will be called down to logistics to schedule up to 3 weeks of time. Once everyone listed is scheduled any additional time (and subject to availability in order of “time in title”) may be scheduled.
  3. Special requests are being considered again.
  4. Any security employee who, as of April 30, 2022, has annual leave in excess of the carryover amount, due to the Museum’s inability to schedule the appropriate time to prevent forfeiture, shall have the excess time paid in one lump sum at the employee’s then-applicable base wage rate.

Yes, it took some time but full clarity and understanding on both sides must be established. The full agreement in its entirety will be posted with all the signatures.

Yours Truly,

Rawle Campbell

President of Local 1503
